Mercedes Benz Servicing: Service A and B Explained

Mercedes-Benz’s are renowned for being high quality, well-engineered cars. If you own a Mercedes it needs to be well looked after, to ensure it can run at its optimum level, this is why you should book regular services. There are 2 types of Mercedes service, an A Service or B Service. This article will tell you the difference, so that you can decide which is the best for your car.

Mercedes Benz A Service

The Mercedes Benz A service is for newer cars. You will typically need your first service once the car is about a year old, or once it has done 10,000 miles whichever comes first, and thereafter it should be serviced approximately every 2 years.

An A Service includes:

  • Synthetic motor oil replacement
  • Oil filter replacement
  • Fluid level checks and corrections
  • Tyre inflation check and correction
  • Brake component inspection
  • Reset of the maintenance counter

Mercedes Benz B Service

The Mercedes Benz B Service is best suited to an older vehicle, or one that has clocked up more mileage. It is more expensive than an A service, but it is also more in depth and extensive. You can book a B service once your car has done approximately 20,000 miles, or once it is 2 years old, whichever comes first.

A B Service Includes:

  • Synthetic motor oil replacement
  • Oil filter replacement
  • Fluid level checks
  • Cabin dust/combination filter replacement
  • Tyre inflation, check and correction
  • Brake component inspection & fluid replacement
  • Reset of the maintenance counter

The main difference between the two Mercedes services is the time intervals. But there are subtle differences in the vehicle service activities too, mainly that the B service will include brake fluid replacement and cabin air filter replacement.

Our Mercedes garage only uses genuine parts and lubricants, this ensures your vehicle remains at its highest level of performance, and it also ensures your manufacturer’s warranty is protected.
